The Role
As a Product Designer at 42T, you will be at the forefront of innovation, bringing new ideas and concepts to life. You will work closely with our clients and suppliers, designing products and machines with the user in mind. You will use a variety of tools, including sketching, digital illustration, 3D CAD and rapid prototyping.
Main Duties/Key Responsibilities:
Your role will be adaptable based on the project or client. You are likely to carry out any of the following tasks -

Front End Innovation
- Generating creative ideas and concepts to drive innovation.
- Developing product or design strategy.
- Understanding the user journey and how it is mapped and analysed to improve product design.
- Generating creative ideas and concepts to drive innovation.

Human-Centred Design
- Conducting user research through observation, listening, and interviewing.
- Applying ergonomic and human factors principles in design.

Visual Design
- Creating visual designs using hand sketching and Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Developing 3D CAD designs with SolidWorks.
- Producing visualisations, renderings, and animations using KeyShot.

Design Engineering
- Knowledge of designing for manufacture.
- Utilising rapid prototyping methods, including 3D printing and laser cutting.
- Assembly prototype parts and models for testing and refinement.

Communication
- Working closely with a multi-disciplinary team.
- Presenting ideas, concepts, and designs to clients and stakeholders.
- Contributing to sales and marketing content, including insights and case studies.
- Supporting the Business Development team in selling projects and services to prospective clients.
About You
- Product Design Engineering, Product Design or a relevant technical or design degree.
- The ability to participate as part of a creative multi-disciplinary team on a wide range of problems.
- Confidently explain design concepts to non-technical clients.
- Ability to understand technical engineering concepts from colleagues.
- Creative problem-solving skills.
- A design eye with an appreciation for design insights and trends.
- Understanding of design methods, processes and engineering principles.
- User-centred design experience.
- Visual design skills, e.g. sketching, illustrating, graphic design and rendering.
- 3D CAD (Solidworks).
- Understanding of manufacturing and assembly process.
- Good knowledge or materials and their properties.
- Able to work independently with some direction and supervision.
- Organised and approachable.
- Flexible approach to changing work tasks.
- Innovative and commercial mindset.
- Motivated to product high-quality work.
- Attention to detail.
- Willingness to travel.
