The Role
To contribute to 42T’s client projects that have electronics and/or software content. The role will also include the use of modern engineering tools, including AI-assisted tools, to support development and problem-solving. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working between both disciplines, as they will be contributing to electronic design, developing embedded systems and supporting the delivery of innovative, high-quality solutions for a range of clients.
Main Duties / Key Responsibilities:
The core responsibility will be to help deliver high quality consulting engineering services to our clients. To achieve this objective you will work with other project team members, including the project technical lead, to understand customer requirements and define solutions that meet those requirements.
Development of firmware and software for operating electronic systems or for test systems.
Design of electronic circuits
Analysis & modelling of circuit and system performance.
Definition of test schedules and test electronic circuits and systems.
Contribute to the development of electronic systems which may comprise some or all of:
Instrumentation and sensing systems
Control and embedded systems
Power electronics
Communications interfaces
About You
Knowledge and Skills:
Essential:
Undergraduate degree in electronic engineering, computer science or similar discipline.
Experience analysing, designing, constructing & testing electronic circuits during degree projects.
Test experience should include use of basic electronics test equipment such as oscilloscopes and DVMs.
Experience of schematic entry tools such as KiCAD, Eagle or Altium.
Desirable:
Post graduate qualification (Master/PHD) in electronics engineering, computer science or similar discipline.
Experience analysing, designing & testing electronic circuits as a result of summer placements, internships or as a hobby.
Experience combining electronics and software in practical projects (e.g. embedded systems, robotics, IoT)
Familiarity with data processing, algorithm development, or modern software techniques (e.g. basic machine learning or AI concepts)
Experience writing VHDL for FPGAs.
Matlab experience for analysing data, developing algorithms and model creation.

Full UK driving licence
Involvement in clubs, societies or activities with outward-facing engagement (e.g running a club, organising events, performance or public-facing roles)
